There is this awful little bug in iOS that I once thought was a Verizon problem. Then, I heard John Gruber mention it on The Talk Show a while back — and attributing it to AT&T.
Sometimes when the iPhone loses its 3G connection, it’s unable to get it back, and sits on 1X (or EDGE on GSM). The only fix is to enable then disable airplane mode.
Unacceptable, inconvenient, and messy.
Fix it.
In response to host Dan Benjamin’s question of why wouldn’t Apple release the device, Gruber says that to Apple the more pertinent question is why they should.
I still don’t see the reasoning behind the 7-inch iPad. Apps would have to be rescaled and redone just for the device. The same reasons that I’d say no to a larger iPhone apply to making a smaller iPad.
I suppose I see how it may be competitive. But I think everyone can agree that the iPad has already proven to be rather competitive on its own.
